From Your Edsa –BGC Hostel to Tourist Destinations Within Metro Manila

From your hostel, walk north heading towards the Estrella Footbridge beside Shell gasoline station. Along the way, you’ll pass by a Mercury Drugstore, Caltex Gas Station, and a 7-11.

Cross the footbridge and go down on the right side where the bus stop is.

From the bus stop, you have two options:

a. Ride a public metro bus with a signboard that says LRT / AYALA (Bus B) and tell the driver to drop you off at the “LRT”.
b. Ride a jeepney with a signboard that also says “LRT / AYALA” and tell the driver to drop you off at the “LRT”.

You will be dropped off at the LRT Line 1 train line, particularly at the Gil Puyat station. Once in the area, follow these instructions:

  • Intramuros

    Ride the train from Gil Puyat Station and alight at Central Terminal Station where you can walk to Intramuros.

Jeepney = 10 Pesos
LRT 1 = 20 Pesos
Public Metro Bus = 16 Pesos
TOTAL  = 30 – 36 Pesos

Taxi = 250 Pesos or more

Budget Commute Savings = 214 – 220 Pesos ($5 USD) or more

  • Luneta / Rizal Park

    Ride the train from Gil Puyat Station and alight at United Nations Station where you can walk to Luneta / Rizal Park.

Jeepney= 10 Pesos
LRT 1 = 15 Pesos
Public Metro Bus = 16 Pesos
TOTAL  = 25 – 31 Pesos

Other Options:
Taxi = 250 Pesos or more

Budget Commute Savings = 219 – 225 Pesos ($5 USD) or more

BUDGET TIP: You can also walk to Intramuros from Luneta / Rizal Park and vice versa.

  • Chinatown / Quiapo

    Ride the train from Gil Puyat station and alight at Carriedo Station where you can walk to Chinatown (left exit) and Quiapo (right exit).

LRT 1 = 20 Pesos
Public Metro Bus = 16 Pesos
TOTAL  = 30 – 36 Pesos

BUDGET TIP: From Quiapo, you can take a jeepney to Intramuros. The jeepney stops in front of Quiapo Church. You should see an “Intramuros” signboard on the jeepney.

  • Chinese Cemetery

    Ride the train from Gil Puyat station and alight at Abad Santos Station where you can walk to the Chinese Cemetery.

Jeepney = 10 Pesos
LRT 1 = 20 Pesos
Public Metro Bus = 16 Pesos
TOTAL  = 30 – 36 Pesos

  • Malate

    Ride the train from Gil Puyat station and alight at Pedro Gil station. From the station, walk along Pedro Gil Street (landmark is the Petron gas station on the left side). As you walk, you will also pass by other streets such as Ma. Orosa, Bocobo, Adriatico, and Mabini. Every street has a number of bars and restaurants, but the most frequented areas are Adriatico and Nakpil.

TOTAL  = 25 – 31 Pesos

COMING BACK
For the above areas, all you have to do is go back to the nearest LRT Line 1 station and ride the train back to Gil Puyat Station. Outside Gil Puyat Station, you will see public metro buses with a signboard that says “LRT / AYALA”  (Bus B) pass by. Ride this bus and tell the driver to drop you off at Estrella (landmarks are the gasoline stations near your hostel namely Shell, Caltex, and Petron). From the drop-off point in Estrella, you can walk to your hostel.


  • Makati Central Business District

    Using the same LRT-bound public metro bus or jeepney from the Estrella bus stop (see instructions above), tell the driver to drop you off at “Rustans” where you can walk to the big malls (Glorietta and Greenbelt), Ayala Triangle, and Ayala Museum.

Jeepney= 7 Pesos
Public Metro Bus = 12 Pesos
TOTAL = 7- 12 Pesos

Taxi = 150 Pesos or more

Budget Commute Savings = 138 – 143 Pesos ($3 USD) or more

COMING BACK
Head to Ayala Avenue and ride a public metro bus with a “Crossing” signboard (Bus B) from one of the loading stations on the side of the Philippine National Bank building (Ayala Triangle should be across this building). Tell the bus driver to drop you off at Estrella (landmarks are the gasoline stations near your hostel namely Shell, Caltex, and Petron). From the drop-off point in Estrella, you can walk to your hostel.


  • The Fort / BGC – Bonifacio Global Center (Commercial Center)

    You can walk to the Fort / BGC area from your hostel. If you’re staying in BGC Hostel, walk to Kalayaan Avenue. From Kalayaan Avenue, walk pass Harvard St and Olon St until you see the 2nd traffic light and a green signboard with arrows pointing to the Bonifacio Global Center and McKinley Hill. Continue to walk until you reach JP Morgan building which marks the start of the BGC area. Just beside the parking lot, which is right across JP Morgan, you will see a bus stop. From there, ride the BGC bus to your respective destination.
    If you’re staying in Our Awesome Hostel, which is along Kalayaan Avenue, follow the same walking instructions above.

Walk back using the same direction as above.

BUDGET TIP: You don’t have to take the BGC Bus also if you don’t want to because The Fort area is very easy to navigate, and you can easily walk to an establishment within 10-15 minutes. Just walk and enjoy!


  • Cubao X / Araneta Center

    From your hostel, walk north heading towards the Estrella Footbridge beside Shell gasoline station. Along the way, you’ll pass by a Mercury Drugstore, Caltex Gas Station, and a 7-11. Just beside the footbridge is the Estrella bus stop. From the bus stop, ride a public metro bus with a signboard that says “Cubao Ibabaw” (Bus C) and tell the driver to drop you off at Araneta Center – Cubao where you can walk to Cubao X.

TOTAL = 18 Pesos

COMING BACK
Head to the southbound lane of EDSA and ride a public metro bus with a signboard that says “Ayala” or “Baclaran” (Bus B). Tell the driver to drop you off at Estrella. The bus stop of Estrella is right beside a footbridge, which you have to cross to reach the Shell gasoline station. And from there, you can walk to your hostel.


  • Mall of Asia

    From your hostel, walk north heading towards the Estrella Footbridge beside Shell gasoline station.
